Weekend frolics were indeed fun. Saturday was a visit to my old theatre in Chorley. Did some nostalgic workshops with the Youth Theatre, and me and Babol watched Bron and her lot do Comedy Sportz which was most funny. It's an improv show where two teams compete with eachother for laughs. Highlights were Darryl's ill-timed burp, Jools' kissing and Ste's first ever backflip - try and imagine someone who's never ever done a backflip before just having a go for the audience. This basically involved Ste hauling himself backwards and landing flat on his back. Looked painful, but oh so very funny.
Me and Bron did some more nattering and it looks like "Technically Speaking" may well be getting a second public airing. Just need to pick a time for it. Which gets me all giddy, cause i like it when Bron directs my plays. The last time she did Storyland Mumbles (yes, I am aware the title's shit), and though it's a hugely silly play designed for kids, it was enormous fun. So yeah, psyched.
The Challenge
Which leads me to another thing I'm working on with the YT - I have the challenge of writing an original play, tailored for the YT Players (a group of older YT members) - they've each given me a character bio, and from those am gonna write the thing! And believe it or not, it's actually getting somewhere, despite the following characters given:
Bisexual Psycho
A Hero who hates paperboys
Agent Smith meets Mr Big (thanks Tom!)
A 16 year old married with 2 kids
A super-bitch hooker
A totally stoned DJ
I don't know - kids these days! Tis fun so far though.
The Family
Despite protestations, Sunday with the family was very enjoyable. Fat Arse was grumpy in the morning due to toothache, but cheered up later. Grandma is still in denial. Bless her. She also bought me a very fetching pink nylon twin set. How hard is it to pretend you like something you like something so completely hideous? Very. But we do these things for our grannies. It is now hidden under Fat Arse's bed. Where it shall never surface again.
And of course Babol was the perfect gentleman, swiftly fooling all and sundry that he's a nice boy, when we all know the real truth.
I, of course, forgot my sister's Xmas present. Sigh. I suck.
Apologies
Sorry to Little Spice for revealing to fella that your mum used to call you "Topsy".
I should have also mentioned that your sister used to call you "The Beast".
And that I used to call you "Hoggy".
I think my life is in danger.
